Larry Smiglewski, Therapist at Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy

Larry Smiglewski

Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)

Pronouns: He/Him

About Me: As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I bring over 20 years of experience across the theatrical arts and business worlds from classrooms to Broadway. I hold a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, along with advanced degrees in Theatre and Education. This multidisciplinary background informs my holistic and creative approach to therapy.

My work centers on creating a safe, supportive, and queer-affirming environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered. I strive to meet each individual exactly where they are, offering thoughtful guidance and walking alongside you as we navigate life’s complexities. Together, we work to deepen self-understanding, clarify needs, and develop meaningful goals.

As a queer therapist, my practice is grounded in Narrative and Solution-Focused theories. I integrate these frameworks to foster a collaborative therapeutic space where LGBTQIA+ individuals can explore their identities and experiences authentically – recognizing the unique challenges that can arise in our community, balancing everyday responsibilities with larger personal aspirations. My queer-centered approach is tailored to each client, providing personalized strategies that support growth, resilience, and self-expression.
